| For my dramatic lighting project I tried to simplify the subjects and what they were doing to create a simple photo. In my first one, I had my subject stare into the camera for a "confronting" kind of feel. I love how the photo turned out with all of the values and textures in her face, hair, and shirt. I brightened her eyes so the viewer would have a main focal point and then gradually look on the darker side of her face, run down her hair and circle back up towards the face. In my second picture (and also my favorite), I left it in color because of the hue it had. I barely had to edit this one which made me really happy. For dramatic lighting, I'm so used to seeing black and white so leaving it in color was different for me. I absolutely love the balance of both the darks in her hair and shadows and the highlights in her hair (again) and the water drops. These two also add a balance which allows the viewer's eye to travel but also have a lot of focal points and think about the overall photo and its message. This one out of all of them really shows vulnerability and I think this I really important to show because I believe everyone has experienced this at least once in their life. For my last one, I took while my subject was in the shower again. This one I'm really proud of how the values all turned out and the drops. The spraying water allows the eye to move down towards her face and then the longer trickles of water allows the eye to move even further as if she's "letting go" or the pain is escaping her. This one, just like the previous photo has a lot of meaning within it as well. If I could change anything about my 3 photos it'd be my subject. If they weren't in the same project, I wouldn't mind; however, they are. Everything else, I'm extremely proud of. |
